PRAIRIE SPIRIT SCHOOL DIVISION – LAIRD SCHOOL REVIEW
The Prairie Spirit Board of Education has decided to conduct a review of Laird School to evaluate its operations and consider options such as discontinuing certain grades or closing the school, in accordance with The School Division Administration Regulations. The Board passed a motion to initiate a review of Laird School at its regular meeting on September 22. This step is being taken due to current enrolment trends at the school and the needs of the school facility.
A school review is a structured process designed to gather information, listen to the community, and make informed decisions that support students and families. There will be no changes to the school during this current school year.
As part of the school review process, a School Review Committee has been formed with representation from the School Community Council and local municipalities. The Committee will share information with the public, gather feedback, and provide recommendations to the Board of Education as the Board considers the future of the school. The school review process is designed to ensure community consultation and consideration of all relevant factors before any decisions are made by the Board of Education.
