We are continuing our Literacy work in the fall. We want to learn more about how books have changed how we think-both as adults and students.
Over the summer, please explore the books that have had impact on you as a person. Share with your children the books you remember as a child at home, during your school years and even as a parent reading to them.
These conversations will be important modeling for having our students see you as a reader also. In the fall, students will be asked to bring 3 books or titles that have influenced them. Our staff and members of our school division team will be doing the same and these conversations will kick off our continued development of literacy. We look forward to seeing these books and the interesting conversations that will spring from them.
We are looking forward to a great summer of reading again this year. We will be gathering photos of kids and families reading throughout the summer also. Students who have returned all their books from regular borrowing throughout the year will be allowed to take 5 books out for the summer again. As they are reading with you, as a family or on their own, please capture these pictures and email them into our school email. We would like to put together a bulletin board of the kids throughout the summer reading in different places showing reading is part of our lives all year round.
Please email pictures to: email@example.com
Happy Reading and we look forward to the pictures and stories from a great summer of reading.Delisle Elementary School
