Program
Details
Ukrainian language opportunities for Saskatchewan elementary school
students are varied. Students are always encouraged to consider
attending an in-school language program before considering
out-of-school options. In-school programs can offer much more in
terms of location, scheduling, personnel, support and resources.
However, options for language learning are available to those who
cannot attend a regular school program.
Elementary in-school programs may be either bilingual (with the
Ukrainian language being used for several subject areas during
one-half of the school day) or core (with Ukrainian being
taught as a school subject). Ukrainian after-school programs,
traditionally called ridna shkola, meet once a week and focus
on basic elements of language, culture and spirituality.
