How many languages to you speak?
*Each paragraph represents a separate student response.

| We have three languages, German, High German and English. Now you might be wonder what the differences is between German and High German. Well there is a difference. German is what we learn when we are about 2 years old. It is the language that we speak to one another. It is not the German that is used today in Germany. It is an ancient language that was brought with us when we immigrated to North America many, many years ago. High German is the language we start to learn to speak and write when we are 6 years old and starts German school. It is also the language our Preachers read and we also sing it in church. English is also the language we start to learn when we are 6 years old and start English school. At first, it is confusing to learn two languages in school at the same time, but eventually we all get the hang of it. High German is easier than English when we start learning because High German does not have so many grammar rules. |
